My “Three Fs of Entrepreneurial Education”

by Andrew on November 14, 2011

I just read “Carol Clark: The Three F’s Of Entrepreneurial Education” from TechColumbus’ TechWeek ePublication. (no link yet, the archives aren’t available online yet..)

I thought the they were more representative of a strategic entrepreneurial education. In other words, they weren’t very tactical or useful.

Carol’s three Fs:

  • Foresight
  • Flexibility
  • Fortitude

My Three Fs:

  • Fail
(test ideas, products, services and people. test quickly, often and cheaply.)
  • Focus
(on the industry/niche you want to operate in. get an information advantage.)
  • Fun
(have fun. if you aren’t, you’re doing it wrong.)

Sometimes I find myself reading something or visiting a certain site and find that the music I am listening to matches well with the content I’m reading.

Remember MIDI music that played in the background of web pages in the 90s and early 2000s? The majority of it was awful, but occasionally I found that the background music made the web site browsing a better, more cohesive, experience. So – why not give it another shot in the web 2.0 world of today?

What if you could match songs in Spotify with certain pages or your entire web site? As the author, you could pick out a solid track to match with your site or content. A small icon in the browser or on the site itself could retain your local Spotify settings that determine whether you want site-by-site selection of playing, or auto-play, or disabled.

Sound interesting? Would you like that? Hate it? I’m interested in feedback.

Half baked idea: Universal AC Light relay for phone alarm

October 4, 2011

I spend part of my time living in an apartment in the heart of Downtown Cleveland. It is great, but the floorplan results in my bedroom lacking exterior windows. As a result, there is very little natural light in the room.
Why is this a problem? It makes it very hard to wake up after my [...]

Laptop power cords and the value of time
What do laptop power cords have to do with the value of time?
My primary computer is a MacBook Pro 17”. I take my laptop between work, home, meetings and on trips.  About a month after I got the computer (February 2009) I noticed the time I spent crawling [...]

EDIT 9/3/2010
I received an email from Ben Wallace within a few hours of making this post. Kudos for the fast response.
He explained the situation and the circumstances that resulted in our works appearing on his site. Long story short: Ben was mocking up content and testing a Flash slideshow gallery. When loading the slideshow [...]

We woke up a little late and missed the sunrise. We broke down camp and headed back into Glacier National Park.
We made our way to an observation point which afforded an excellent view of the lake, Goose Island and the surrounding mountains.

We stitched a couple photos together for this panoramic:

Here is another [...]

Day 7 – Leaving Wyoming and Entering Montana’s Glacier National Park

September 15, 2009

We broke camp and headed away from Yellowstone. We headed west and made it into Montana within a few hours.

We were able to make it into Glacier National Park before the sun set. The drive into the park was beautiful.

As the sun set, we weren’t able to get any decent pictures [...]

Day 6: Sunrise over Shoshone Lake and north to see the Falls

September 10, 2009

We woke at sunrise just in time to see the sun peaking over the horizon.

As you can see, our tent was right near the water’s edge.

On our way back to the trailhead, we passed the Lonestar Geyser again.

After we got back to our car, we headed north to see the [...]

Day 5: Yellowstone – Backpacking into Lake Shoshone

September 10, 2009

We woke up to see our Yellowstone campsite (we had set up camp in the dark).

We headed to the ranger’s office to get a permit for backcountry camping. We chose a campsite on the southern tip of Shoshone Lake. It was located about 9-10 miles from the trailhead.
The trail had to cross the [...]
